Hell or Heaven?There aren’t that many HR jokes around, but this one not only takes the biscuit, but raises a number of issues about attracting candidates!


An HR manager was knocked down (tragically) by a bus and was killed. Her soul arrived at the Pearly Gates, where St.Peter welcomed her. “Before you get settled in” he said, “We have a little problem…you see, we’ve never had a HR manager make it this far before and we’re not really sure what to do with you.”
“Oh, I see,” said the woman, “can’t you just let me in?”

“Well, I’d like to,” said St Peter, “But I have higher orders. We’re instructed to let you have a day in hell and a day in heaven, and then you are to choose where you’d like to go for all eternity.”

Best HR Execs Gladly Divorce Their Teams

Did you know research shows the average time it takes to get over a divorce is 17 months, 26 days.  I’ve heard other accounts of up to 3 years which is about what I experienced after my first marriage.  I’ve found this to be the case in my HR world too.  Let me explain….

68 Workers Died İn January: Report

At least 68 workers died in Turkey from accidents on site in the month of January, according to a recent report by the Workers’ Health and Workplace Safety Council.
The majority of the deaths occurred in mining and construction sites, with 16 deaths in mining sites and 15 in construction. Eleven of the workers died in Turkey’s Zonguldak, ten in Gaziantep, six in Istanbul and 4 in Izmir, the report showed.

Fee Calculation Parameters of 2013

As known, fee calculations should be considered in relation to the rate of income tax and insurance premiums which make the change in these amounts within the new year.

These parameters, which are determined by relevant papers will be entered into force on 1st January 2013.

The meetings of Minimum Wage Determination Commission has been going on since the beginning of December and the last one was held today.

In accordance with the Commission decision, the gross amount of the minimum wage is determined as 978,75 TRY for the first six months of 2013.

Excuse me a sec, I need to unwrap myself from around the gender diversity axle. Oof, ouch, @&#!. Okay, there we go.

I am a bit confused, befuddled, and wound up about gender diversity in the workplace. Generally speaking, I am in favor of it. But then again, I am in favor of all kinds of diversity - diversity of gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, cookie preference, food intolerances, approaches to cleaning the kitchen and even diversity of biases and prejudices (because, let's be honest with ourselves, ALL of us have biases and prejudices).
