The Process Required For Work Permit Applications In Turkey	Documents Required From The Company For Work Permit

-Original signed and countersigned business contract between the employer and the employee

-SSK report referring to the latest month, stating the numbers and names of Turkish and foreign employees working in the company.

-Balance sheet or original income scheme approved by tax office of the company or by chartered accountant

-Original or a copy of Trade Registry Gazette approved by your company, designating the capital and shareholding structure of the company

-Contract between your company and the Company that the foreign employee will work for (If the employee will be employed under a third party)

– Petition addressing to the ministry stating the demand for the work permit of the employees.

Documents Required From The Employee For Work Permit

-Certificate of identity register copy

-Notarized residence permit copy

-4 copies of photographed, signed and countersigned foreign employee application form

-2 extra passport size photographs

-A copy of passport of the foreign employee notarized and translated in Turkish by a sworn translator

-A copy of diploma of the foreign employee notarized and translated in Turkish by a sworn translator

*Depending on the position of the employee and the type of the Company, additional documents other than stated above may be required.

Process

Upon completion of all the documents stated above, work permit application will be made to the Ministry of Labor in Ankara.

The ministry will review the application file especially giving attention to:

The position and department that the engineers are required to have in Turkey. They evaluate the appropriateness between their work field and educational background with company’s field of activity.

If employees are engineers or architects, Higher Education Commission will require equivalency certificate for their educational background. If their high school and university department will be found equivalent with Ministry’s and engineer chambers’ requirements, the work permit application process will be approved. If their educational background will not be found equivalent, then they will be subject to an examination in Turkey.

Upon the approval of work permit application by the authorities, a petition addressing to the ministry of Labor and Social Security declaring the commencement of the employee will be given to the Ministry.

After approval of the work permit, it should be registered to the residence permit in the district security directorate within the following thirty days.

The approval process shall normally take 2-2,5 months. If they are engineers/architects  it can take up to 6 months.
