Number of working days within a month is considered 30, regardless of the actual number of days the month includes. In other words workdays of January (31 days), February (28 or 29 days) or March (30 days) is the same.  

Social Insurance and General Health Insurance Law Number 5510, Article 3-14 reads as follows;

14) (Amended: 17/4/2008 – 5754/1st Art.) Month: shall mean, for the insurance holders under items (a) and (c) of the first paragraph of Article 4, whose wages are payable on 15th of each month, the time period between 15th of a month and the 15th of the next month, and for other insurance holders, the time period between the 1st of the month and the end of that month, and which is deemed to be thirty days,”

 

Calculatıon of SSI Premium paid days in case of missing days

In case of missing days such as sick leave during the month, the actual days of the related month will be taken as a base according to examples included in the Communique issued in Official Journal Numbered 27011, dated 28 September 2008, i.e. January 31 days, February (28 or 29 days).

Number of actual days within the month – Number of missing days = SSI premium paid days.

For example: Employee has 10 days sickness reports:

For January: 31 – 10 = 21

For February: 28 – 10 =  18

For March: 30 – 10 = 20 premium contribution will be declared.

Specific Condition of February

As we stated above, SSI premium days for employees who worked full in February is 30, however in case of starting or leaving work during the February the actual days will be taken into account.

Examples:

New starters in February.

Employee started on 13th Feb.

Premium days to be paid: 28-12 = 16 days.

Leavers in February.

Employee started on 10th Feb. and left at the end of Feb.

Premium days to be paid:

28-9 = 19 days.

Missing days of employee should be declared by monthly premium and service document until 23rd of the following month.
