Payments to interns, apprentices, trainee apprentices, journeymen, and students receiving vocational training in businesses are subject to a minimum amount indexed to the minimum wage. These amounts are updated at the beginning of each calendar year and have been revised for 2026 in line with the increase in the minimum wage.
Minimum wage payable to interns and state support conditions:
Pursuant to Law No. 3308 on Vocational Education, payments to trainee apprentices and apprentices, as well as to students receiving vocational training in enterprises and those continuing internships or supplementary training, must be at least 30% of the net minimum wage.
Payments to final-year vocational training center students who have obtained journeyman qualification must be at least 50% of the gross minimum wage.
- Intern Wage (for 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students and university students): 8,422.65 TRY
- Journeyman Wage / Vocational Training Center 12th Grade: 16,515 TRY
Full state support is provided for the wages paid to vocational training center students. For students studying at other educational institutions and schools who will complete internships in enterprises, state support varies depending on the number of employees in the enterprise.
In enterprises employing fewer than 20 employees, two-thirds of the minimum amount payable to the intern will be covered by the state.
In enterprises employing 20 or more employees, one-third of the minimum amount payable to the intern will be covered by the state.
