The European Network of Female Entrepreneurship Ambassadors will launch its project in Turkey this year, partnering with the Women Entrepreneurs Association of Turkey (KAGİDER), the Businesswomen Entrepreneurs’ and Enhancement Association (ANGİKAD) and Turkey’s Özyeğin University.
The European Network of Female Entrepreneurship Ambassadors has a 1 million euro budget, 60 percent of which is covered by European Union funds. The project links 13 successful businesswomen as mentors to 26 up-and-coming female entrepreneurs for two years.
There are 80,000 female entrepreneurs in Turkey, said KAGİDER’s President Gülden Türktan.
“Entrepreneurship is a road we have to face on our own, but entrepreneurs need people to light the way; this is where mentorship comes in. None of us has to be completely alone on our path,” said Türktan. Türktan said five of the 13 mentors will not come from Istanbul.
