Fields of Design Activities Within Nace Codes

As part of a reform package, the Cabinet Decree No. 2016/9094 has been issued in Official Gazette dated 11 August 2016, numbered 29798, intended to include some innovative works, which are defined in Statistical Classification of Economic Activities in the European Community, Rev. 2 (NACE), within the “scope of design activities.”

According to above mentioned Cabinet Decree, all innovative activities which; have the potential of creating added value and competitive advantage, and have the quality of increasing, developing, improving and diversifying the functionality of a product or/and products in the following fields specified Statistical Classification of Economic Activities in the European Community, (NACE Rev. 2) will be considered as design activity.

a) J – Included in under the title of “Information and Communication:

59.11 – Motion Picture, Video and Television Programme Production Activities
59.12 – Motion Picture, Video and Television Programme Post-Production Activities 

b) M – Included in under the title of “Professional, Scientific and Technical Activities:”   

74.10 – Specialized design activities (74.10.03 excluded)

c) R Included in under the title of “Arts, Entertainment and Recreation:”

90.02 – Support activities to performing arts.

DEFINITION OF DESIGN ACTIVITY

According to article 4, paragraph 1, item (o) of the Regulation on Application and Control for Supporting Research, Development and Design Activities, which has been issued in Official Gazette dated 10 August 2016 numbered 29797, the design activity is defined as follows;

All innovative activities which; have the potential of creating added value and competitive advantage, and have the quality of increasing, developing, improving and diversifying the functionality of a product or/and products in industrial area or in the other field approved by the Cabinet.
