Retirement Conditions in Turkey

emeklilik hesabıThe retirement age depends on the date of entrance into SSI (Social Security Institution) in Turkey. There are several eras determined by the issuance of consecutive legislation that made the age of eligibility very complex; also alternative eligibility conditions exist within these eras.

ENTRANCE BETWEEN 9TH SEPTEMBER 1999 – 30TH APRIL 2008

Persons first time insured between above dates will be eligible for old age pension

  •  With 7 000 days of contributions at the age of 58 (women) or 60 (man).
  • Or alternatively 25 years in the system with 4500 premium payment at the age of 58 (women) or 60 (man).

ENTRANCE AFTER 1ST MAY 2008

Normal Retirement

Persons first time insured on 1st may 2008 or later at least 7200 premium paid days are necessary to be retired at the age of 60-65 for men and 58-65 for women (retirement age will gradually increase for both).

If the 7200 premium covered days are completed until 31st December 2035, men will be retired at 60 and women at 58.

For the ones who completed the 7200 days between;

01.01. 2036 – 31.12.2037 men 61, women 59
01.01.2038 –  31.12.2039 men 62, women 60
01.01.2040 –  31.12.2041 men 63, women 61
01.01.2042 – 31.12.2043 men 64, women 62
01.01.2044 – 31.12.2045 men 65, women 63
01.01.2046 – 31.12.2047 men 65 women 64

After 01.01.2048 women 65 may be retired.

In the application of age limit, the age limits valid at the date on which 7200 days are completed will be taken as a base

Partial Retirement with 5400 Days

Men who are first time insured on 1st may 2008 and completed the 5400 days until 31st December 2035 will be retired at 63, for the men who completed 5400 days between:

In the application of age limit, the age limits valid at the date on which 5400 days are completed will be taken as a base.

Women who are first time insured on 1st may 2008 and completed the 5400 days until 31st December 2035 will be retired at 61, for the other women:

Completed  5400 days between 01.01.2036 – 31.12.2037 age will be  62,
Completed 7200 days between 01.01.2038 – 31.12.2039 age will be 63,
Completed 7200 days between  01.01.2040 – 31.12.2041 age will be 64,
After  01.01.2042 age will be 65.

In the application of age limit, the age limits valid at the date on which 5400 days are completed will be taken as a base.

RETIREMENT WITH 3600 PREMIUM DAYS AND 15 YEARS OF INSURANCE PERIOD

Persons who are first time insured before 9th October 1999 may choose the retirement with 3600 premium paid days in 15 years insurance period.

– By completing 3600 premium days and 15 years of insurance period until 23rd May 2002; women at the age of 50 and men at the age of 55 can be retired.

After 24th May 2002 a gradual system is applied.  

Persons completed the 3600 premium days within 15 years insurance period between the dates:

24.05.2002-23.05.2005 men 56 women 52,
24.05.2005-23.05.2008 men 57, women 54
24.05.2008-23.05.2011 men 58, women 56,
24.05.2011-23.05.2014 men 59, women 58,
after 24.05.2014 men 60 women 58 may be retired.

ENTRANCE BEFORE 8 SEPTEMBER 1999

Persons first time insured before 8 September 1999 will be retired gradually according to table below.
